The Arboretum offers the Chesapeake region’s largest selection of ornamental native trees, shrubs, perennials, ferns and grasses.

The Open House begins on Fri., Sept. 8. Shopping hours begin at 10 a.m., and the public is invited from 4 to 6 p.m. for light fare, live music, a cash wine and beer bar, a silent auction and shopping in a fun and festive atmosphere. Plant sales continue Sat., Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sun., Sept. 10 from noon to 4 p.m. Members receive a significant discount on plant purchases. 

Open House visitors can also learn about the Arboretum’s Native Landscape Design Center, a unique offering that pairs homeowners with a landscape designer to create a beautiful and affordable native landscape that benefits wildlife and the environment. Lead designer Chris Pax will offer a free drop-in program from 11 a.m. to noon on Sat., Sept. 9. She’ll discuss plants for sale and where to plant them, and will be available to answer questions afterward. Proceeds from plants sold at the Fall Open House benefit the Arboretum’s education programs.
