In response to a warming climate, Maryland’s native plant species will either adapt, migrate, or go extinct. Fortunately, we can help make native plants more resilient to climate change. Join us for a discussion of the relationship between native plants and a changing climate, past, present, and future. We will discuss the critical roles of land conservation, biodiversity, and invasives management, and what we need to be able to source native plants for projects moving forward. Sara is a practitioner, researcher, and educator who has worked with the flora of the Mid-Atlantic region for more than 30 years. She has worked as an environmental consultant, a native plant and seed producer, an Extension agent, and an invasive plant manager. She has conducted research on our state’s rare sundial lupine populations, and on the commercial availability of native plants and seeds in the Eastern United States. She recently served a two-year term as Coordinator for the National Capital Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM). She has degrees in geology, marine science, and natural resources.

Zoom opens at 7:00PM for pre-program board update and member Q&A. Presentations begin at 7:30PM and generally run until 8:45PM.
